“Chain Rock” Copper Framed Art by Cynthia Noel

$58.00

Chain Rock, located on the Battery side of the Narrows, played a significant role in protecting St. John’s during World War II. With the attachment of a large chain and anti-submarine booms across the entrance to the harbour, German U-boats were prevented from entering. The rock, along with its counterpart Pancake Rock on the opposite side of the Narrows, has been utilized since as early as 1770. In fact, a chain was once stretched between the two rocks to prevent the illegal entry of enemy ships. The distance between Chain Rock and Pancake Rock is 174 meters, and their historical significance continues to be recognized today.

Measuring 5×7 inches, this print is perfect for adding a pop of colour and character to any space. The print is carefully crafted to showcase the intricate details and stunning colours of the original watercolour painting and is mounted in a beautiful hand-made copper frame. Proudly made in Newfoundland and Labrador, this art print is a true celebration of the region’s rich artistic heritage.
