The Clarenville Area Chamber of Commerce traces its roots to the 1960s when a group of local businessmen formed the Clarenville Business Association to address business concerns. As interest grew, the association expanded its reach, welcoming new members from the surrounding area. This growth led to its renaming as the Clarenville Area Chamber of Commerce, with Eric Martin serving as its first president. The Chamber gained official recognition on May 30, 1968, when it was registered with the Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs in Ottawa.
