Ed Roche is a celebrated Newfoundland and Labrador artist whose work captures the province’s rich landscapes, heritage, and culture. Growing up in Middle Cove, he developed a deep appreciation for the rugged beauty of his surroundings, which later became the heart of his artistic vision. Though his passion for drawing began in childhood, it was reignited years later during a snowstorm when he experimented with watercolors. As a recreation specialist, his travels across Newfoundland and Labrador deepened his connection to its people and traditions, inspiring his vibrant, detailed paintings. Roche co-founded the Realist Artists of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1997, supporting local artists in their professional growth. His acrylic paintings, known for their striking realism and color, bring Newfoundland’s landscapes and daily life to audiences near and far, celebrating the province’s unique identity.
