Meet Our Local Maker "Elizabeth Burry"
Elizabeth's passion for jewelry design began in 2003, leading her on a journey to become a skilled self-taught designer. Prior to this, she spent years painting while working as a nurse. In 2005, she became a full-time artist and opened an artistic boutique in St. John's, where she gained international recognition as both a sought-after painter and jewelry designer.
Elizabeth's desire for handcrafted, high-quality, and timeless jewelry arose from the need to fill the void between cheap costume jewelry and expensive precious metal and gemstone jewelry. Her collection uses quality hypoallergenic .925 sterling silver and is designed and made by hand. She takes pride in creating a collection that stands the test of time, and has been doing so since 2003.
In 2010, Elizabeth sold her successful boutique and moved to Trinity, where she built a studio in one of the coves. She now spends her time balancing between creating fine art, making jewelry, and enjoying the beauty of rural Newfoundland.
Elizabeth's jewelry is conceptualized and crafted in her studio, where she and her team combine semi-precious stones, pearls, sea glass, and other materials sourced from around the world to create each piece by hand. Every piece of jewelry is made with love and care.
To reduce overproduction and ensure zero waste, Elizabeth's jewelry is made in small batches. Whenever possible, 100% recycled silver is used to minimize environmental impact. Precious metals can be recycled multiple times without compromising the beauty or quality of the jewelry. The suppliers Elizabeth works with are ethical and employ fair trade practices.
"I believe jewelry is wearable art and hope that each piece reflects your personality and makes you feel uniquely special. I hope you enjoy what we've created for you," Elizabeth says.
